Mounting Locations on the 2021+ Bronco

The Bronco has several factory mounting points designed for grab handles:

Installation Steps

Identify Your Mounting Points

Look for the factory bolt holes or existing grab handle mounting locations. On the 2021+ Bronco, these are typically covered by plastic trim caps or have existing factory handles you'll be replacing. The A-pillar mounts are the most popular location for aftermarket paracord handles.

Remove Factory Hardware (If Applicable)

If you're replacing factory grab handles, use your Torx bit to remove the existing bolts. Most factory handles use T30 or T40 Torx bolts. Keep the bolts — you may be reusing them depending on your aftermarket handle's design. If there are trim caps covering unused bolt holes, gently pry them off with a trim removal tool.

Position the Grab Handle

Hold the paracord grab handle up to the mounting points and verify alignment. Quality handles like Bartact are designed specifically for the Bronco, so the bolt spacing should match perfectly. If you're using a universal-fit handle, double-check that the mounting holes line up before proceeding.

Thread the Bolts

Start the bolts by hand to ensure you're not cross-threading. Thread each bolt a few turns before tightening either one. This lets you adjust the handle position if needed.

Tighten to Spec

Tighten the bolts firmly but don't gorilla them. You're threading into the vehicle's body or roll bar — overtightening can strip the threads. Snug plus a quarter turn is usually right. If your handle came with specific torque specs, follow those.

Test the Handle

Give the handle a firm pull in multiple directions. It should feel solid with no wobble or rotation. Have a passenger grab it and lean on it to simulate trail use. If there's any movement, tighten the bolts slightly more.

Repeat for Additional Handles

Most Bronco owners install at least two handles (driver and passenger A-pillar). Four handles (adding rear sport bar mounts) gives every passenger something to hold onto. The process is the same for each location — just adjust for the specific bolt pattern at that mount point.
